Executive Vice President, Strategy & Operations
About the Opportunity
Our client is a family-office-backed platform in the residential home services industry with multiple portfolio companies. With patient, long-term capital and a commitment to building something enduring, this organization is focused on creating value through operational excellence, cultural alignment, and sustainable growth.
This is a newly created leadership role designed to bring structure, discipline, and strategic alignment to the existing portfolio. The Executive Vice President, Strategy & Operations will serve as the connective tissue between portfolio companies and holding company leadership—driving standardization, performance, and deep collaboration while supporting local leaders to succeed within a unified operating framework.
Location: Kansas City, MO (in-office presence required)
Travel: Approximately once per month to portfolio company locations (~20%)
The Role
Reporting directly to holding company leadership, the EVP will work closely with field leaders across portfolio companies to align strategy and operations, establish consistent operating frameworks, and build the systems and processes that enable the platform to perform at a high level.
This role requires rolling up your sleeves to standardize operations, unite teams around shared goals, and ensure the portfolio is operating with consistency, clarity, and accountability. You’ll be building the operational infrastructure and alignment necessary to support the platform’s long-term growth strategy.
This is a highly collaborative role. You’ll partner closely with holding company leadership, work side-by-side with portfolio company leaders, and earn credibility through transparency, respect, and results. Success means creating an environment where collaboration drives performance, where processes support people, and where every team member understands how their work contributes to the whole.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Standardization & Alignment

Design and implement processes, SOPs, and playbooks that bring consistency across all portfolio companies

Partner with brand leaders to roll out and ensure adoption of shared systems and operating standards

Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures that simplify decision-making and execution

Replace ad-hoc practices with scalable, repeatable solutions that work across the portfolio
Performance Management & Reporting

Develop and oversee the use of dashboards and reporting tools that drive accountability and support data-driven decisions

Monitor KPIs and ensure portfolio companies achieve operational and financial targets

Work collaboratively with leadership teams to identify gaps and implement solutions

Partner with holding company leadership on annual planning, budgeting, and strategic goal-setting
Team & Cultural Alignment

Unite leadership teams under common goals while respecting the unique identities of individual brands

Build a culture rooted in trust, transparency, and accountability where collaboration is the norm

Work closely with portfolio company leaders to blend diverse company cultures while reinforcing the organization’s values and vision

Process Improvement & Problem-Solving

Identify and resolve inefficiencies across the portfolio through close collaboration with field teams

Lead continuous improvement initiatives at both strategic and tactical levels

Strategic Readiness

Partner with leadership to evaluate what capabilities need to be strengthened before considering expansion
Qualifications
Required Experience
-
15+ years of progressive leadership in home services, trades, or adjacent multi-site residential services

Demonstrated success building operating frameworks and leading organizational alignment across multiple brands or business units

M&A experience required: Must have direct experience integrating acquisitions, managing post-merger operations, and building value through consolidation

Proven track record of improving operations and executing strategic initiatives within complex, decentralized environments

Experience working directly with both field/trade teams and executive-level leadership

Compensation & Benefits
The compensation package will be highly competitive and tailored to the experience of the selected candidate. It is expected to include:

Base Salary: $225,000 to $275,000

The compensation for this position is expected to range between $225,000 – $275,000 per year. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.
