Job Title: HVAC Service Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair HVAC system malfunctions and performance issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Install HVAC units, ductwork, thermostats, controls, and related components.
  • Inspect systems to identify worn or defective parts.
  • Replace compressors, motors, fans, belts, filters, coils, and electrical components as needed.
  • Test electrical circuits, controls, refrigerant levels, airflow, and system performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and maintenance reports.
  • Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and maintenance requirements to customers.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and troubleshoot urgent HVAC issues.
  • Operate specialized diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and service vehicle stock.
  • Follow EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling and recovery.

 

Requirements

  • Must possess a West Virginia HVAC License, Tech 1 card (covering Residential and Commercial work)
  • 3+ years of experience in the field is required
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable interacting with homeowners and explaining solutions
  • Ability to identify opportunities for system improvements (no high-pressure sales required)
  • Boiler and oil furnaces experience a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test

The compensation for this position is expected to be a base range of $75,000$110,000 per year. This is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.
