Job Title: Safety Coordinator

Position Overview

We’re seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety and fleet risk management across multiple operating companies. This highly visible role will drive company-wide safety programs, reduce workplace and fleet incidents, and ensure OSHA and DOT compliance.

Based in Sarasota, FL, the Safety Manager will travel approximately 50–75% to company locations to conduct inspections, lead safety meetings and reenactments, investigate incidents, and partner closely with Operations, Fleet, HR, and Executive Leadership to strengthen the company’s overall safety culture.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Develop, implement, and enforce company-wide safety programs across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and construction operations.

  • Travel to company locations approximately 50–75% of the time to conduct hands-on vehicle, equipment, and job-site inspections.

  • Plan and lead in-person safety meetings, safety reenactments, drills, and employee training initiatives across all locations.

  • Lead investigations of workplace and vehicle-related incidents, including on-site fact-finding, root-cause analysis, corrective action plans, and follow-through.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety and fleet regulations.

  • Build and maintain a company-wide safety program with measurable metrics, reporting, and trend analysis, including incidents, near misses, claims, and driving violations.

  • Monitor the Geotab telematics system for unsafe driving behaviors, identify trends, and partner with location leadership and HR on corrective actions.

  • Manage fleet safety and compliance programs, including vehicle registrations, permits, inspections, insurance documentation, and driver compliance.

  • Coordinate with automotive technicians and repair shops on vehicle maintenance, repairs, and related fleet needs.

  • Partner with HR to monitor and document driver violations through the company’s continuous MVR monitoring program.

  • Review vehicle accident and claims data and lead initiatives to reduce fleet-related incidents, risk, and insurance claims.

  • Manage the company-wide fuel card program in coordination with Accounting.

  • Maintain accurate safety records, logs, and compliance documentation across all operating companies.

  • Lead internal safety audits and ensure consistent application of safety policies and standards across all locations.

  • Partner closely with Operations, Fleet, HR, Accounting, and Executive Leadership to continuously improve safety performance and strengthen the company’s safety culture.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of safety management experience, preferably within construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, field services, transportation, or a similar multi-location environment.

  • OSHA 30 certification.

  • Demonstrated experience with fleet safety, automotive operations, and telematics systems such as Geotab or similar.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.

  • Experience leading incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean and insurable motor vehicle record.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 50–75% in state.

  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and investigative skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, or a related field.

  • Experience in a multi-location HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, or field-services organization.

  • Experience tracking and analyzing insurance claims and loss trends.

  • Experience developing company-wide safety programs, metrics, and reporting across multiple operating locations.

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to drive extensively and safely travel between company locations.

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, and climb as needed to inspect vehicles, equipment, and work environments.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving or working at a computer.

  • Ability to occasionally lift safety equipment and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • This position requires regular travel and hands-on inspection of vehicles and equipment; maintaining a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record is a condition of the role.
