Residential Plumbing Technician

Location: Sacramento, CA

Job Title: Residential Plumbing Technician

Position Overview

As the oldest Northern California plumbing and HVAC company (serving our community since the 1960s!), we combine decades of trusted heritage with a modern, high-performing service operation. We are seeking a high-integrity, sales-oriented Residential Plumbing Technician who possesses both top-tier technical skill and exceptional customer communication abilities.

In this role, you will lead high-value service calls, perform thorough diagnostics, and present clear options to homeowners—all while driving top-tier revenue in a supportive, family-first environment.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Perform diagnostic inspections, maintenance, repairs, re-pipes, and water heater installations across residential (90%) and light commercial (10%) calls.

  • Consistently drop a camera down every drain to provide thorough, transparent evaluations for every customer.

  • Provide customers with comprehensive, multi-option solutions (from basic fixes to full system updates) without ever being pushy or “grimy.”

  • Operate ServiceTitan daily to manage job workflows, present options, log diagnostic data, and process customer selections.

  • Maintain a minimum target volume of 3 service calls per day, maximizing revenue opportunities and customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked company vehicle (dispatched directly from home).

  • Participate in team meetings, coaching, and skill development sessions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in residential plumbing service, troubleshooting, re-piping, and water heater replacements.

  • Strong technical understanding of residential plumbing systems—not just a salesperson, but a true craftsman.

  • Proficiency with ServiceTitan (CRM, dispatch, and digital option presentation platform).

  • Stable work history demonstrating long-term commitment to previous employers (no job hoppers).

  • Self-motivated, coachable, manageable, and driven to hit top-tier revenue goals ($150K–$200K+ monthly department revenue).

  • Dedicated to honest customer communication and presenting transparent choices.

  • Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal customer service skills.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (MVR).

  • Willingness to submit to pre-employment background screening and drug testing.

  • Possession of standard trade hand tools.

  • Local to the greater Sacramento area (or willing to relocate with roots in the region).

What Can We Do for You?

  • Competitive Compensation Package: Base pay of 25.00-30.00/hour plus uncapped ~5% bi-weekly commission, leading to On-Target Earnings (OTE) of $100,000-$250,000+ annually for top performers.

  • 100% employer-covered health insurance for the employee + partial coverage for dependents.

  • 100% employer-paid dental & vision insurance (comprehensive premium plan).

  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% company match.

  • Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) under a California-compliant plan.

  • Company-provided vehicle dispatched directly from home.

  • Family-first, non-corporate culture with strong long-term stability since the 1960s.

  • Regular team-building outings, lunches, and twice-yearly company-funded restaurant events.

The base compensation for this position is expected to range between $25.00 – $30.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law.

Employee(s) will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments.
