HVAC Mechanical Engineer

Location:Tampa, FL

Position Overview

What happens when a mechanical contractor is about more than just HVAC and controls? Where it’s not just about satisfying clients, but transforming an industry? You get a team that operates as a single heartbeat—a place where a business is something more and anything is possible.

In this role, you will handle the core technical pieces of our pre-construction efforts—partnering closely with our Lead In-House Engineer, accompanying the team on sales calls, conducting field site visits, and translating client needs into customized mechanical solutions. If you bring strong MEP or industrial engineering fundamentals, CAD proficiency, and a client-facing mindset, we want to speak with you.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Provide primary technical engineering support, partnering with our Lead In-House Engineer to develop functional, cost-effective mechanical and HVAC system designs.

  • Join sales calls and client meetings as the technical subject matter expert to help present project recommendations and build trust with clients.

  • Conduct physical site surveys and engineering evaluations across the Tampa Bay area to assess existing building conditions, take measurements, and identify project requirements.

  • Utilize CAD to produce precise mechanical layouts, system schematics, and project drawings for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and manufacturing facilities.

  • Utilize Salesforce to document project details, track technical progress, and align with sales and project management workflows.

  • Perform heating/cooling load calculations and provide technical guidance to field teams and project managers during construction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5+ years of experience within MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) contracting or consulting firms. Solid HVAC experience is a major plus, though strong, transferable industrial mechanical design experience will also be fully considered.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field is preferred; however, a formal degree is not strictly required if backed by extensive, demonstrated hands-on technical design and trade experience.

  • Hands-on experience with CAD/drafting software and familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce experience is a plus).

  • Familiarity with mechanical design considerations for healthcare, manufacturing, clean room, or commercial facilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to participate comfortably in sales discussions, present technical options, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Valid driver’s license for site visits and willingness to undergo standard pre-employment background checks and drug testing.

What We Can Do for You

  • Highly competitive base hourly pay rate backed by a lucrative bonus incentive program.

  • Exceptional healthcare package with 100% company-paid family health insurance premiums.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match PLUS profit sharing.

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) with employer contributions.

  • Generous paid vacation policy plus paid company holidays.

  • Access to an onsite fitness facility and participation in company/family events throughout the year.

  • Ongoing technical and leadership training programs, a collaborative workplace culture, and regular community involvement initiatives.
