Lead HVAC Installer

Location:Forest Hill, MD

Work With Your Handz is partnering with a well-established, community-focused residential mechanical contractor in Forest Hill, MD, to find an experienced, ethical Lead HVAC Installer.

This organization has built its reputation on empathy, craftsmanship, and genuine service—educating homeowners through an advisory process rather than using aggressive sales tactics. If you are an experienced installation technician looking for a stable, family-oriented environment with no weekend shifts, no late nights, and zero emergency on-call rotation, this is the opportunity for you.

The Opportunity

As a Lead HVAC Installer, you will lead residential heating and cooling installation projects from start to finish. Reporting each morning to the shop, you will take command of a fully equipped, newer wrapped take-home fleet vehicle, coordinate material and equipment staging, and mentor apprentices on-site.

You will deliver clean, top-tier system changeouts and replacements while upholding high standards of quality: leaving homes better than you found them, double-checking your work, and conducting thorough post-installation walkthroughs with homeowners.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Execute complete residential heating and air conditioning installations, including heat pumps, split systems, furnaces, ductwork transitions, line sets, and venting in full compliance with local and national codes.

  • Educate customers transparently on their new systems and maintenance practices using an advisory, service-first approach.

  • Guide and train installation helpers and apprentices, fostering technical skill development and enforcing job site safety.

  • Perform final system start-ups, pressure tests, and complete walkthroughs with homeowners to review system operation and thermostat controls.

  • Utilize ServiceTitan on mobile devices for dispatch, job tracking, pre/post-install photos, notes, and invoicing.

  • Keep assigned company vehicles clean, well-stocked, and organized, ensuring equipment and tools are properly handled and secured.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on residential HVAC replacement and installation experience (lead installer experience strongly preferred).

  • Valid Maryland (MD) or Delaware (DE) HVAC license (Journeyman or Master) or equivalent recognized trade credentials; EPA Universal Certification.

  • Strong background in refrigerant handling, brazing, low/high-voltage electrical connections, system commissioning, and airflow balancing.

  • Experience with ServiceTitan is strongly preferred (paid system training is provided).

  • High integrity, strong work ethic, customer empathy, and a collaborative team attitude.

  • Ability to navigate residential work environments (attics, crawl spaces, basements), lift up to 50 lbs., and possess a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.

What Can We Do for You?

  • $30.00 – $38.00+ per hour (paid biweekly, based on skill level and licensing).

  • Regular performance bonuses and spiffs for customer reviews and maintenance agreements

  • Newer wrapped company take-home truck, fully stocked and equipped with a gas card.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match (effective after 90 days).

  • 100% employer-paid life insurance policy

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid company holidays

  • Group health insurance coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • Tool Perks & Support:

    • Company tool loans up to $2,000 (repaid conveniently at $50 per paycheck).

    • Free company replacement for broken trade tools.

  • Annual Christmas bonus/party, team outings, and a collaborative, drama-free work environment.

The base compensation for this position is expected to range between $30.00 – $38.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law.

Employee(s) will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments.
