The Opportunity

As the Lead Plumbing Service Technician, you will serve as the primary field leader and technical expert for residential plumbing and heating services. Operating out of Pearl River, NY, you will drive a fully stocked take-home company truck equipped with a fuel card, running high-level diagnostic, installation, and repair calls across the local service territory.

Beyond standard repairs, you will play a pivotal role in shaping department success—leveraging your background in hydronics, boilers, and heating integration while mentoring technicians, collaborating with dispatch and warehouse teams, and presenting clear, honest solutions to homeowners. This position is designed for a tradesperson looking for a long-term home that values quality craftsmanship, transparent communication, and team leadership.

Responsibilities and Expectations

• Perform, lead, and oversee comprehensive residential plumbing repairs, replacements, and new system installations with master-level technical skill.

• Leverage HVAC and heating knowledge to inspect, service, troubleshoot, and support residential heating systems, including boilers, hydronics, and steam systems.

• Act as an on-site technical mentor to junior technicians and helpers, demonstrating proper trade practices and guiding quality control.

• Communicate transparently with homeowners, clearly outlining diagnostic findings and walking them through honest repair or replacement options.

• Coordinate closely with dispatch, service leadership, installation teams, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth daily routing, staging, and material flow.

• Accurately interpret, apply, and enforce local plumbing and mechanical building codes on all jobs.

• Complete digital service records and required paperwork accurately while keeping assigned company vehicle organized, stocked, and clean.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of hands-on professional residential plumbing service and repair experience (minimum 3 years required).

• 2+ years of residential HVAC/heating experience, with solid working knowledge of boilers, steam, and hydronic systems integrated with plumbing.

• 2+ years of proven experience leading jobs, directing helpers, or mentoring technicians in the field.

• Strong proficiency across standard plumbing hand/power tools, pipe threading, soldering, brazing, and mechanical diagnostics.

• Outstanding customer service and communication skills, with the ability to make sound independent decisions in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to commute reliably in-person to Pearl River, NY 10965, with a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

The base compensation for this position is expected to range between $38.00 – $48.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.
