The Opportunity

As an HVAC Service Technician, you will run daily residential diagnostic and maintenance calls across heating, cooling, and heat pump systems. Reporting to the shop each morning to coordinate parts and review the day’s route, you will operate independently in the field with a newer, wrapped take-home fleet vehicle.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues accurately, walk homeowners through findings with care, provide clear repair solutions, and perform precision maintenance. Backed by ServiceTitan and an experienced dispatch team, you will have all the operational tools and diagnostic support needed to do the job right the first time.

Responsibilities and Expectations

• Troubleshoot, test, and repair residential split systems, heat pumps, gas/oil furnaces, boilers, ductless mini-splits, and airflow components in full accordance with trade and safety codes.

• Perform comprehensive multi-point maintenance inspections, seasonal checkouts, system cleanings, and safety assessments.

• Explain diagnostic issues clearly to homeowners, presenting ethical repair and maintenance options using an educational service process rather than aggressive commission-only sales.

• Perform voltage, amperage, refrigerant charge, temperature split, and combustion analysis checks; ensure all completed work is thoroughly tested before departure.

• Use ServiceTitan on mobile devices to manage daily dispatch, log before-and-after photos, track parts usage, complete invoices, and capture customer sign-offs.

• Maintain assigned take-home truck in a clean, professional, and well-organized manner, ensuring standard truck stock and testing meters are protected.

• Adhere strictly to company safety standards, OSHA rules, PPE guidelines, and maintain a clean, courteous appearance in customer homes.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of hands-on residential HVAC service, troubleshooting, and maintenance experience.

• Valid Maryland (MD) or Delaware (DE) HVAC license (Journeyman or Master) or equivalent recognized trade credentials; EPA Universal Certification.

• Strong diagnostic capabilities in electrical schematics, low-voltage wiring, refrigeration cycle analysis, compressors, TXVs, blower assemblies, and thermostats.

• Experience with ServiceTitan is strongly preferred (training is available).

• Clean-cut, articulate communicator with strong empathy, customer-first service values, and high personal integrity.

• Ability to navigate typical residential work settings (attics, crawl spaces, basements), lift up to 50 lbs., and possess a valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.

The base compensation for this position is expected to range between $30.00 – $38.00 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.
