Vice President of Operations – Plumbing & Electrical
Role Overview
We are seeking a proven Vice President of Operations to lead and scale our Plumbing and Electrical divisions across the Greater Bay Area. Reporting directly to the President, this role sits on the executive leadership team and plays a central role in shaping operational strategy, performance, and long-term growth.
The VP of Operations will be fully accountable for operational execution, team performance, and financial outcomes across two high-growth service lines, while working closely with the President and executive team on enterprise priorities.
Over time (approximately a three-year horizon), this role is designed to evolve into broader organizational leadership, with a clear path toward the President role for the right leader.
Business Scope
- Executive ownership of two high-growth service divisions: Plumbing and Electrical
- These divisions represent the company’s largest near-term growth opportunities
- Oversight of 80+ employees across both trades, with continued headcount growth expected
- Direct leadership of two General Managers (Plumbing & Electrical)
- Operations based in the suburban Bay Area
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a core member of the executive team, contributing to company-wide strategy, planning, and decision-making
- Prepare for expanded enterprise responsibility, including succession into broader organizational leadership
Operational Ownership & Excellence
- Own end-to-end operational performance for Plumbing and Electrical, including service delivery, capacity planning, and field execution
- Establish and maintain operational cadence through KPIs, dashboards, and accountability rhythms
- Implement, refine, and scale SOPs, systems, and best practices to support growth without sacrificing quality
Financial & Performance Accountability
- Full P&L ownership for Plumbing and Electrical divisions
- Drive profitable growth through pricing discipline, productivity improvements, and cost controls
- Translate strategic objectives into measurable operational and financial outcomes
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop two General Managers and their leadership teams
- Build bench strength and succession pipelines across operations
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
Customer Experience & Brand Standards
- Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across all locations
- Address escalated customer issues when necessary and reinforce a customer-first mindset
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, regulatory, and safety requirements
- Champion a strong safety culture and proactive risk management across all teams
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Background
- Senior operational leader in residential home services (Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, or multi-trade environments)
- Demonstrated success owning meaningful P&L responsibility in a growth-oriented business
- Experience scaling operations, not just maintaining steady-state performance
- Track record of strong tenure and leadership continuity
Leadership Profile
- Current VP-level leader or GM-level operator ready for enterprise-level impact
- Comfortable leading through other leaders and holding teams accountable
- Data-driven, disciplined, and decisive
- Respected operator who can earn credibility with field teams and executive leadership alike
Compensation & Benefits (General Framework)
Compensation is designed to be competitive and performance-aligned, with a strong mix of base salary, performance bonus, and long-term upside.
-
Base Salary: Target base is $225K, with flexibility up to $235K for the right leader.
-
Total Cash Compensation: With performance-based bonus tied directly to operational and financial results, total annual cash compensation is typically in the $330K–$450K range depending on performance and business outcomes. These figures are examples to illustrate the structure—not guarantees.
-
Equity/Long-Term Incentive: Equity potential may be available depending on level, timing, and performance.
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package; relocation support may be available if applicable
Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to step into true executive ownership while remaining close to the business. The right leader will have real authority, meaningful scope, and a clear runway toward broader organizational leadership.
This role is designed for an operator who wants to build, scale, and lead—not simply manage what already exists.
