Job Title: Electric Service Install Technician
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Job Summary
The Electric Service Install Technician works under the direct supervision of licensed or journeyman technicians to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical service equipment. This entry-level role is designed for individuals seeking hands-on training and career development in the electrical utility or service installation field. The apprentice will learn safe work practices, electrical codes, and technical skills while supporting field operations.
Key Responsibilities

Assist senior technicians with installing, upgrading, and removing electric service equipment, including meters, service panels, service drops, and related hardware

Support troubleshooting and basic repairs of electrical service connections

Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment at job sites

Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE use, and job-site hazard awareness

Learn and apply electrical codes, company standards, and utility regulations

Perform basic wiring tasks under supervision

Maintain a clean and organized work area and company vehicle
-
Accurately complete work orders, documentation, and time records
-
Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers

Participate in on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and safety meetings
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
-
Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in an approved electrical apprenticeship program

Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in electrical work
-
Ability to follow instructions and learn technical skills quickly
-
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (or ability to obtain one)

Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and physical evaluation
Preferred Skills (Not Required)

Prior construction, utility, or electrical experience

Basic knowledge of hand and power tools

Familiarity with electrical safety practices
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform repetitive tasks

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
Work Environment

Field-based, outdoor work at residential, commercial, and utility sites

Exposure to electrical hazards, weather conditions, and construction environments

The compensation for this position is expected to range between up to $24 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.
